The prognostic role of speckle tracking echocardiography in clinical practice: evidence and reference values from the literature

Maria Concetta Pastore et al.

Summary: Speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) is a second-level echocardiographic technique that allows for early detection of cardiac impairment and provides additional prognostic information beyond conventional echocardiographic parameters. Its feasibility and usefulness are supported by literature, and recent standardization of speckle tracking analysis has paved the way for integration of STE into diagnostic and prognostic protocols for specific clinical settings.
