Phylotranscriptomics Resolves the Phylogeny of Pooideae and Uncovers Factors for Their Adaptive Evolution

Lin Zhang et al.

Summary: The adaptation of Pooideae to cool climates has been influenced by gene duplications and regulatory mechanisms. Pooideae originated in the late Cretaceous and underwent divergences under cooling conditions. During the Eocene-Oligocene transition, Pooideae species experienced significant gene duplications and regulatory changes, promoting their adaptation to cold habitats.

The Kengyilia hirsuta karyotype polymorphisms as revealed by FISH with tandem repeats and single-gene probes

Xiaoyan Tao et al.

Summary: Kengyilia hirsuta has a close relationship with wheat, with conserved chromosome structure in the St genome while distorted in the Y and P genomes. Chromosome polymorphisms were observed in different populations, indicating potential impact on genetic resource utilization and breeding efforts.

Development of DNA Markers From Physically Mapped Loci in Aegilops comosa and Aegilops umbellulata Using Single-Gene FISH and Chromosome Sequences

Mahmoud Said et al.

Summary: This study developed molecular markers for gene transfer between Aegilops and wheat, determined gene positions on M- and U-genome using single-gene FISH, and validated the data in silico with DNA sequence assemblies. The findings will aid in the efficient selection of desired introgressions and support the efforts for introgression and cloning of Aegilops genes into wheat.

Characterization of Each St and Y Genome Chromosome of Roegneria grandis Based on Newly Developed FISH Markers

Dandan Wu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify St- and Y-enhanced repeat clusters and investigate whether homoeologous chromosomes between St and Y genomes could be accurately identified due to their high affinity. By using comparative genome analyses, we identified St- and Y-enhanced repeat clusters and successfully generated a FISH-based karyotype of R. grandis (Keng) for the first time. Our results revealed the presence of 4 novel repeat clusters that could specifically identify individual St and Y nonhomologous chromosomes.
