Room-temperature biphoton source with a spectral brightness near the ultimate limit

Jia-Mou Chen et al.

Summary: The study reports a hot-atom SFWM source of biphotons with a linewidth of 960 kHz and a generation rate of 3.7 x 10(5) pairs/s, resulting in a spectral brightness of 3.8 x 10(5) pairs/s/MHz. The high generation rate and narrow linewidth are achieved through an all-co-propagating scheme and a large optical depth of the atomic vapor. This work demonstrates a significant advancement in quantum technology using photons and provides useful knowledge for further enhancements of spectral brightness and signal-to-background ratio.

Generation of sub-MHz and spectrally-bright biphotons from hot atomic vapors with a phase mismatch-free scheme

Chia-Yu Hsu et al.

Summary: Utilizing the all-copropagating scheme in a hot atomic vapor, researchers have achieved high brightness biphotons with tunable linewidth and competitive generation rates. The generated biphotons exhibit high purity and surpass previous works in terms of linewidth and spectral brightness, offering potential applications in quantum information processing.

Bright multiplexed source of indistinguishable single photons with tunable GHz-bandwidth at room temperature

O. Davidson et al.

Summary: An efficient generation method of narrowband single photons compatible with rubidium D2 line is realized, using spatially-multiplexed heralded source based on four-wave mixing in hot rubidium vapor. The generated single photons exhibit high rate, low noise, and indistinguishability, with a five-fold tunability in temporal width demonstrated. The experimental results are well supported by a theoretical model.

Low-loss high-fidelity frequency beam splitter with tunable split ratio based on electromagnetically induced transparency

Kao-Fang Chang et al.

Summary: The study achieved high efficiencies of 90 +/- 4% in the 50/50 FBS and 84 +/- 4% in the CFC using coherent-state single photons, which are the best records to date. The fidelity of the 50/50 FBS was measured at 0.99 +/- 0.01 using the Hong-Ou-Mandel interference scheme, indicating low noise in the frequency conversion process. These low-loss, high-fidelity FBS with tunable split ratios could have applications in long-distance quantum communication.
