Oddioside A, a New Phenolic Glycoside Isolated from the Fruits of Morus alba (Mulberry), Protects TNF-α-Induced Human Dermal Fibroblast Damage

Kang Sub Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, a hot water extract from Morus alba fruits and its constituent oddioside A were found to inhibit the secretion of MMP-1, increase collagen, and suppress the phosphorylation of MAPKs. These findings suggest that Morus alba may be a potential agent to prevent inflammation-related skin aging and other skin disorders.

Exploring the Pivotal Immunomodulatory and Anti-Inflammatory Potentials of Glycyrrhizic and Glycyrrhetinic Acids

Seidu A. Richard

Summary: Licorice extract, consisting primarily of glycyrrhizic (GL) and glycyrrhetinic acid (GA), acts as a potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antitumor, and immunoregulatory agent. It exhibits strong activities against various viruses and inflammatory responses through modulation of cytokines, enzymes, and transcription factors. Moreover, GA shows therapeutic potential in human enterovirus 71, a common virus associated with hand, foot, and mouth disease.

Immobilization of Heteroatom-Doped Carbon Dots onto Nonpolar Plastics for Antifogging, Antioxidant, and Food Monitoring Applications

Poushali Das et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized nitrogen, phosphorous, and sulfur codoped carbon dots with antioxidant properties, which were then applied to plastic films to extend the shelf life of food items. The coated films underwent extensive analysis and testing to confirm their durability and suitability for antifogging applications.

Protective Effect of Polymethoxyflavones Isolated from Kaempferia parviflora against TNF-a-Induced Human Dermal Fibroblast Damage

Hung Manh Phung et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the skin protective effects of polymethoxyflavones against oxidative stress and inflammation-induced damage in human dermal fibroblasts. Among the tested compounds, 5,7,4' trimethoxyflavone was identified as the most potent constituent in preventing TNF-alpha-induced HDF damage, inhibiting MMP-1 production, stimulating COLIA1 expression, and suppressing ROS and pro-inflammatory mediators in HDFs. The findings suggest that TMF may be a potential agent for preventing skin aging and dermatological disorders related to oxidative stress and inflammation.
