Gender difference in retrieval-extinction of conditioned fear memory

Chen Wei et al.

Summary: The study suggests that gender plays a significant role in the extinction effect of the retrieval-extinction paradigm, with women showing the best extinction effect. However, gender differences are also evident in the spontaneous fear recovery and reinstatement test of the standard extinction paradigm. The study highlights the importance of considering gender differences in developing personalized treatment plans for male and female patients in clinical applications.
