This study investigates the production of single-charmed baryons in p (p) over bar collisions using a constituent quark model. Predictions on the total cross sections are provided, which can be useful for future experimental searches.
The production of single-charmed baryons Lambda(+)(c)Lambda(-)(c), Lambda(+)(c)Sigma(-)(c) + H.c., and Sigma(+)(c)Sigma(-)(c) in p (p) over bar collisions is studied in the framework of a constituent quark model that has satisfactorily described the N (N) over bar system and the strangeness production p (p) over bar -> Lambda(Lambda) over bar, Lambda(Sigma) over bar, and Sigma(Sigma) over bar processes. Predictions on the total cross sections are analyzed for different approaches to the underlying n (n) over bar -> c (c) over bar process, mediated by one-gluon annihilation diagrams. The results indicate that the cross section is on the order of 1 nb between 10 and 14 GeV for Lambda(+)(c)Lambda(-)(c) and Lambda(+)(c)Sigma(-)(c) channels and around 0.01-0.1 nb for Sigma(+)(c)Sigma(-)(c). These estimations can be relevant for their future search in facilities like PANDA.
