Distributed planning of electricity and natural gas networks and energy hubs

Hangbo Yang et al.

Summary: The centralized planning assumption in the electricity network, natural gas network, and energy hubs neglects the independent ownership of different systems. A more practical approach is to establish a distributed planning framework that differentiates the electric system, gas system, and each EH as separate stakeholders. This paper proposes a distributed planning framework based on the ADMM, which decomposes the joint planning problem into multiple sub-problems for each system and EH, with unit commitment embedded for more accurate operation reflection.

Optimal operation of compressor units in gas networks to provide flexibility to power systems

Yongning Zhao et al.

Summary: Compressor stations are crucial in maintaining pressure levels in natural gas networks, with the ability to switch between different fuel-driven compressor units to achieve desired outlet pressure and flow throughput. The flexibility provided by compressors to the power system is influenced by the allowable range for variation of linepack.

Energy, exergy, exergoenvironmental, and exergoeconomic (4E) analyses of a gas boosting station

Mohammad Salimi Delshad et al.

Summary: The study conducted energy, exergy, exergoenvironmental, and exergoeconomic analyses on a natural gas boosting station, revealing the balance between system efficiency and cost under different operating conditions. The results showed significant impact of ambient temperature on system performance and cost rates, with environmental impact playing a key role in total cost rates.
