Changes in older adults? perceptions of age-friendliness in Hong Kong: A three-year mixed-methods study

Cheryl Hiu-kwan Chui et al.

Summary: Constructing an Age-friendly City (AFC) has become a major public policy imperative in response to global population aging and urbanization. Neighborhood Attributes and Well-Being Among Older Adults in Urban Areas: A Mixed-Methods Systematic Review

Miguel Padeiro et al.

Summary: This study synthesized evidence from 39 identified studies, showing that natural areas and community sense in neighborhoods have the most significant impact on older adults' well-being, while transit-related variables, urban furniture, and access to healthcare also have positive effects. Future research should examine different attributes holistically to produce more robust evidence.

Summary: The study findings suggest that perceived built environment and sense of community influence the relationship between residential density and subjective wellbeing, while a U-shaped relationship was found between street connectivity and mental health. Park-based green space and land use mix have positive effects on mental health and subjective wellbeing, with vegetation-based green space negatively impacting subjective wellbeing.

Exploring the impact of public transport including free and subsidised on the physical, mental and social well-being of older adults: a literature review

Delia Rambaldini-Gooding et al.

Summary: This literature review examines the impact of physical activity and public transport on the health and well-being of older populations. While research on the topic is limited, existing studies suggest that access to free and subsidised public transport can have clear benefits for older people's health and well-being, by promoting active transport and reducing social isolation.
