The role of silver carbonate as a catalyst in the synthesis of N-phenylbenzamide from benzoic acid and phenyl isocyanate: a mechanistic exploration

Summary: The gas-phase extrusion-insertion reactions of a silver complex were investigated by experimental and theoretical methods. The study revealed that the extrusion of carbon dioxide and subsequent insertion reactions with phenyl isocyanate occur to form an organosilver intermediate. The results suggest that the extrusion-insertion reaction may not operate in solution.

Palladium-Mediated CO2 Extrusion Followed by Insertion of Allenes: Translating Mechanistic Studies to Develop a One-Pot Method for the Synthesis of Alkenes

Summary: A palladium-mediated one-pot synthesis of alkenes from aromatic carboxylic acids and allene substrates is reported. Evidence shows that the key aryl-palladium intermediate reacts to form a stable allyl-palladium product via insertion of the allene at the C2 position, enabling the synthesis of alkenes. Various experiments and computational data were used to support this finding.
