Pterygodermatites nycticebi infections in golden lion tamarins (Leontopithecus rosalia rosalia) and aye-ayes (Daubentonia madagascariensis) from a German zoo

Summary: An outbreak of Pterygodermatites spp. infection in a golden lion tamarin colony resulted in two fatalities, although treatment improved the overall condition of the remaining animals. Regular screenings of fecal samples were conducted, with no parasitic stages detected, and control measures for intermediate hosts were recommended. Two years later, another case of parasitic infection was diagnosed in an aye-aye, highlighting the importance of continuous control strategies to prevent further outbreaks.
