Many-body localization of Z3 Fock parafermions

M. S. Bahovadinov et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of a random magnetic field on a one-dimensional spin-1 chain with correlated nearest-neighbor XY interaction. It reveals a many-body localization transition, which is caused by the nontrivial statistics and differs significantly from the conventional single-particle localization.

Bath-induced delocalization in interacting disordered spin chains

Dries Sels

Summary: This Letter provides numerical evidence for the dynamics of disordered spin chains weakly coupled to a Markovian bath, showing that the critical disorder for stability to quantum avalanches drifts considerably with system size, with no evidence of saturation in the studied regime.

Avalanches and many-body resonances in many-body localized systems

Alan Morningstar et al.

Summary: In this study, we numerically investigate the avalanche instability and many-body resonances in strongly disordered spin chains exhibiting many-body localization (MBL). We find that finite-size systems behave like MBL within the MBL regimes, and we identify landmarks that divide the MBL regimes into different subregimes based on the onset of avalanches and many-body resonances.

Resonance-induced growth of number entropy in strongly disordered systems

Roopayan Ghosh et al.

Summary: We numerically study the growth of number entropy SN in one-dimensional number-conserving interacting systems with strong disorder, confirming a slow and small growth of SN that is fully compatible with localization. Resonances play a crucial role in determining the growth of SN, leading to different behaviors depending on the initial state, thus causing SN to behave differently from von Neumann entropy.

Phenomenology of Spectral Functions in Disordered Spin Chains at Infinite Temperature

Lev Vidmar et al.

Summary: Recent research on disordered spin chains has focused on the relationship between exact numerical calculations and the existence of a many-body localization phase transition, particularly in cases where disorder is significantly greater than spin interaction strength. A phenomenological theory based on proximity to the noninteracting limit, such as the Anderson insulator, has been introduced to explain intriguing features observed in these systems. This theory quantitatively describes the dynamics of certain observables in finite interacting systems across a wide range of disorders.

Dynamical obstruction to localization in a disordered spin chain

Dries Sels et al.

Summary: We investigate a one-dimensional XXZ spin chain in a disordered magnetic field, utilizing the sensitivity of eigenstates and the low-frequency asymptotes of the spectral function to understand the system's behavior. We identify a region of maximal chaos with exponentially enhanced susceptibility, separating the many-body localized phase from the diffusive ergodic phase. This region exhibits slow transport characteristics, which we argue highly constrains any possible localization transition in the thermodynamic limit, suggesting an absence of the localized phase.

Slow delocalization of particles in many-body localized phases

Maximilian Kiefer-Emmanouilidis et al.

Summary: Through a detailed study of the number entropy SN(t), we find that in a many-body localized phase, the particle number distribution shows a continuously growing tail, indicating that the interacting system never fully localizes even under strong disorder. This behavior is not the result of rare states or regions, but rather represents typical behavior.
