Coherent and incoherent deeply virtual Compton scattering in electron-ion collisions at the EIC and LHeC

Victor P. Goncalves et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the deeply virtual Compton scattering process in electron-ion collisions. The coherent and incoherent DVCS cross sections and differential distributions are estimated, taking into account possible nucleon configurations and nonlinear corrections to QCD dynamics. The impact of nonlinear effects is also evaluated. The results suggest that future experimental analysis of these processes can provide insights into the description of high-energy QCD dynamics.

High-energy and ultra-high-energy neutrinos: A Snowmass white paper

Markus Ackermann et al.

Summary: Astrophysical neutrinos are important for studying astrophysics and high-energy physics. They have high energies and can probe fundamental physics at scales ranging from the TeV scale to the EeV scale and beyond. By studying their production mechanisms and propagation, we can gain insights into physics within and beyond the Standard Model. Neutrinos also provide unique information about extreme non-thermal sources in regions opaque to electromagnetic radiation.

Science Requirements and Detector Concepts for the Electron-Ion Collider

R. Abdul Khalek et al.

Summary: This report describes the physics case, detector requirements, and evolving detector concepts for the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) experimental program. The EIC will be a new facility in the United States with the capability to collide high-energy electron beams with high-energy proton and ion beams, providing access to regions dominated by gluons. The use of polarized beams in the EIC will allow for unprecedented access to the spatial and spin structure of particles. The report aims to advance the physics program and develop detector concepts that meet the requirements for the EIC.

QED radiative corrections for accelerator neutrinos

Oleksandr Tomalak et al.

Summary: Neutrino oscillation experiments aim to establish charge-parity violation by measuring the rate of neutrino appearance and disappearance in a beam, but are influenced by theoretical constraints and corrections. Using a factorization theorem helps minimize uncertainties in predicting neutrino cross-section ratios.

Neutrino interactions with matter and the MiniBooNE anomaly

Luis Alvarez-Ruso et al.

Summary: The excess of electron-like events measured by MiniBooNE challenges our understanding of neutrinos and their interactions, with ongoing efforts to resolve the issue. Experimental backgrounds, neutrino interactions with matter, and the difficulties reconciling findings with global oscillation analysis are key areas of study. Proposed solutions to the puzzle involve unconventional neutrino-interaction mechanisms.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of different assumptions for the description of QCD dynamics at high energies on the determination of the normalization and spectral index of the astrophysical neutrino flux through a maximum likelihood fit comparing predictions with observed events at IceCube. It also explores the potential of increased effective exposure time expected in IceCube-Gen2 to separate out the QCD dynamical effects from the astrophysical neutrino flux description.

Charged current electroproduction of a charmed meson at an electron-ion collider

B. Pire et al.

Summary: In this study, we calculated the amplitude for exclusive electroweak production of pseudoscalar Ds or vector Ds charmed strange meson on an unpolarized nucleon in leading order alpha s. We utilized the collinear QCD approach where generalized gluon distributions factorize from perturbatively calculable coefficient functions. It was shown that this process could potentially be studied at future electron-ion colliders.
