Mechanism for Catalytic Stability Enhancement of FeIII[CoIII(CN)6] by Doping Divalent Ions for Organophosphate Hydrolysis

Yusuke Seki et al.

Summary: In this study, the catalytic activity and stability of iron hexacyanocobaltate for organophosphate hydrolysis were improved by doping with divalent metal ions. The doped compounds exhibited higher conversions and better stability compared to the original catalyst. The low activity of the original catalyst was attributed to the leaching of FeIII ions, resulting in weaker interaction between p-NPP and FeIII ions. Overall, doping with divalent metal ions enhanced the catalytic stability by ensuring Fe-NC bonds and reducing surface acidity.

Heterogeneous Catalysis of Lanthanoid Ions for the Hydrolysis of p-Nitrophenyl Phosphate Enhanced by Incorporation to Cyano-Bridged Heterometallic Coordination Polymers

Hiroyasu Tabe et al.

Summary: This study investigated the performance of various solid materials as heterogeneous catalysts for the hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl phosphate (p-NPP). It was found that lanthanoid oxide and lanthanoid ions immobilized on silica-alumina exhibited lower catalytic activity, while lanthanoid ions incorporated into cyano-bridged heterometallic coordination polymers showed higher activity.

Methane Monooxygenase Mimic Asymmetric Oxidation: Self-Assemblingμ-Hydroxo, Carboxylate-Bridged Diiron(III)-CatalyzedEnantioselective Dehydrogenation

Honghao Guan et al.

Summary: Mimicking naturally occurring metalloenzymes for catalytic asymmetric oxidation reactions has been a long-standing goal in modern chemistry. In this study, a series of chiral diiron complexes mimicking methane monooxygenase (MMO) were designed and synthesized, exhibiting efficient catalytic reactivity in dehydrogenative kinetic resolution. The C9 complex was identified as the optimal catalyst with high chiral recognition.

Oxo dicopper anchored on carbon nitride for selective oxidation of methane

Pengfei Xie et al.

Summary: Selective conversion of methane into value-added chemicals is a promising approach for efficient utilization of hydrocarbon sources. In this study, the authors developed dimeric copper centers supported on graphitic carbon nitride (Cu-2@C3N4) as advanced catalysts for partial oxidation of methane. The copper-dimer catalysts demonstrated high selectivity in both thermo- and photocatalytic reactions, with hydrogen peroxide and oxygen being used as the oxidizer, achieving >10% conversion and >98% selectivity toward methyl oxygenates.

Realizing the data-driven, computational discovery of metal-organic framework catalysts

Andrew S. Rosen et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are widely studied for challenging catalytic transformations due to their well-defined structures and high synthetic tunability. While MOFs are ideally suited for computational catalyst design in principle, the widespread use of data science and machine learning to accelerate the discovery of MOF catalysts has not been fully realized yet. This review provides an overview of recent work setting the stage for future high-throughput computational screening and machine learning studies involving MOF catalysts, along with discussions on current challenges and possible solutions for broader adoption of data-centric approaches in MOF computational catalysis.
