String Phase in an Artificial Spin Ice

Xiaoyu Zhang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Boltzmann-distributed strings of local excitations can describe the topological physics of the Santa Fe geometry, which shows strong correlations and applies to classical systems. Experimental results show that the string length follows a simple Boltzmann distribution with an energy scale related to magnetic interactions and consistent with theoretical predictions.

Multiple energy scales in mesospin systems: The vertex-frustrated Saint George lattice

Henry Stopfel et al.

Summary: Experimental investigation was conducted on the effects of interactions between magnetic islands with different activation energies in thermalized, vertex-frustrated lattices on collective magnetic order. Statistical analysis of correlations between mesospins across different length scales revealed changes in magnetic order, which reflected the number of ground state plaquettes realized in vertex-frustrated lattices.

Low-energy states, ground states, and variable frustrations of the finite-size dipolar Cairo lattices

Kseniia Makarova et al.

Summary: The study investigates the properties of low-energy states of ferromagnetic nanoislands on the Cairo lattice using an interacting Ising-like magnetic dipoles model to explore the influence of geometrical frustration. The analysis reveals nonmonotonic behavior in the ground-state energy of the Cairo lattice and the presence of specific closed pentagons and magnetic order rules in the ground-state configurations.
