Probing spin-dependent dark matter interactions with 6Li

G. Angloher et al.

Summary: CRESST is a significant experiment for detecting dark matter particles with subGeV/c(2) mass. The experiment has the advantage of including various nuclides in the target material to study dark matter interactions. This study focuses on the interactions between dark matter particles and protons/neutrons of Li-6, enabled by new calculations on nuclear matrix elements. By analyzing data collected from a CRESST prototype using LiAlO2 at Max-Planck-Institut fur Physik in Munich, Germany, the inclusion of Li-6 in the limit calculation greatly improves the results for spin-dependent interactions with neutrons in the entire mass range.

Identification of the low-energy excess in dark matter searches with crystal defects

Matti Heikinheimo et al.

Summary: An excess of events of unknown origin has been observed in low-threshold dark matter detectors at low energies. Testing if these events are due to nuclear recoils can be done using the sharp defect creation threshold of diamond.

Revisiting the dark matter interpretation of excess rates in semiconductors

Peter Abbamonte et al.

Summary: In light of recent results from low-threshold dark matter detectors, the possibility of a common dark matter origin for multiple excesses across numerous direct detection experiments is revisited. The interpretation of the excess rates in semiconductor detectors is explored, and a compatible fit for the observed energy spectra in both experiments is demonstrated. However, the possibility of common origin by dark matter scattering via nuclear recoils is strongly disfavored, and other possibilities are also ruled out based on known particle fluxes.

Recommended conventions for reporting results from direct dark matter searches

D. Baxter et al.

Summary: The paper proposes recommendations for presenting dark matter direct detection results, particularly for weak-scale dark matter searches, and provides a series of recommendations on applying the Profile Likelihood Ratio method to direct detection data. Additionally, updated recommendations for astrophysical parameters and relevant neutrino fluxes are provided.
