Gas responsive magnetic nanoparticle as novel draw agent for removal of Rhodamine B via forward osmosis: High water flux and easy regeneration

Meraj Joafshan et al.

Summary: The study investigated the use of gas-responsive magnetic nanoparticles as a novel draw agent in forward osmosis (FO) process for water reclamation applications. The Fe3O4@PDMA nanoparticles exhibited considerable water flux and CO2-responsiveness, with potential for regeneration and dye removal. Tunable protonation/deprotonation of PDMA brushes enabled efficient draw agent recycling using an external magnetic field with minimal energy consumption, achieving high water flux for colored wastewater treatment via FO process.

Magnetite nanoparticles: Synthesis methods-A comparative review

Adelina-Gabriela Niculescu et al.

Summary: Iron oxide-based nanoparticles, especially magnetite, have attracted significant scientific interest due to their availability, versatility, biocompatibility, biodegradability, and unique magnetic properties. The behavior of magnetite at the nano-scale is directly related to its shape, size, and surface chemistry, requiring accurate control over the synthesis process. Microfluidic methods have emerged as a promising technology for achieving better control over morphology, size, and size distribution, overcoming limitations of conventional bulk methods.
