Database system for managing 20,000 20-inch PMTs at JUNO

Jun Wang et al.

Summary: The LPMT-CIDS is a large database system designed and implemented for the JUNO project, using a LAMP server. It focuses on modularization and architecture separation, providing data storage, analysis, and visualization services for the 20-inch PMT testing program at JUNO. The system's design approach and construction elements can be extended to other projects.

JUNO physics and detector

Angel Abusleme et al.

Summary: The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector located 700 meters underground, with excellent energy resolution and a large fiducial volume. It offers exciting opportunities for studying neutrino and astro-particle physics. The construction and design of JUNO are challenging, but it provides potential for significant scientific research.

Embedded readout electronics R&D for the large PMTs in the JUNO experiment

M. Bellato et al.

Summary: Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a next generation liquid scintillator neutrino experiment in South China, aiming to study neutrino mass hierarchy using anti-neutrinos produced by nearby nuclear power plants. The experiment requires high speed, high resolution sampling electronics located close to the detector for successful measurement. Linearity in the response of the electronics is crucial for the experiment's success, with prototypes showing good linearity response and meeting JUNO's requirements.

Optimization of the JUNO liquid scintillator composition using a Daya Bay antineutrino detector

A. Abusleme et al.

Summary: A 20 ton LS sample was produced in a pilot plant to study the optical properties of LS in different compositions for JUNO. The concentrations of PPO and bis-MSB were increased in steps to determine the optimal composition. Daya Bay data were used to tune an optical model for the JUNO simulation, resulting in the recommendation of purified LAB with 2.5 g/L PPO and 1 to 4 mg/L bis-MSB for JUNO LS.

Mass production and characterization of 3-inch PMTs for the JUNO experiment

Chuanya Cao et al.

Summary: The 26,000 3-inch PMTs produced by Hainan Zhanchuang Photonics Technology Co., Ltd for JUNO have passed all acceptance tests, with only 15 tubes rejected. The mass production lasted for about 2 years at a rate of 1,000 PMTs per month, with a joint effort for PMT characterization and quality assurance between HZC and JUNO. This is the largest sample of 3-inch PMTs produced and studied in detail to date.
