This paper presents how a SDN controller configures probabilistic constellation shaping via NETCONF to optimize spectral efficiency based on path length or degradations caused by soft failure. The integrated data and control planes are demonstrated in a field trial using multi-core fiber with 4-coupled cores and multiple rates (800-850-900-950-1000Gb/s).
