Role of lncRNA LINC01194 in hepatocellular carcinoma via the miR-655-3p/SMAD family member 5 axis

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: This study found that LINC01194 is upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and promotes cancer cell proliferation and migration while suppressing apoptosis. It was discovered that miR-655-3p binds to LINC01194 and its expression is downregulated in HCC. Upregulation of miR-655-3p inhibits cancer cell invasion and migration and increases apoptotic cell numbers. Additionally, SMAD5 is identified as a target of miR-655-3p. Therefore, LINC01194 promotes HCC development by decreasing miR-655-3p expression.

circXRCC5 foster gastric cancer growth and metastasis by the HNRNPC/circXRCC5/miR-655-3p/RREB1/UBA2 positive feedback loop

Zuo-Long Liu et al.

Summary: The circXRCC5/miR-655-3p/RREB1/UBA2 axis plays an important role in the development of gastric cancer. Overexpression of circXRCC5 promotes the proliferation, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells, while downregulation of miR-655-3p leads to upregulation of RREB1, contributing to the occurrence of gastric cancer.

Hsa-miR-3178/RhoB/PI3K/Akt, a novel signaling pathway regulates ABC transporters to reverse gemcitabine resistance in pancreatic cancer

Jianyou Gu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential mechanisms of microRNAs and ABC transporters related signaling pathways for PC resistance to gemcitabine. The results suggest that hsa-miR-3178 promotes gemcitabine resistance via RhoB/PI3K/Akt signaling pathway-mediated upregulation of ABC transporters.

Hyaluronic Acid-Coated Bovine Milk Exosomes for Achieving Tumor-Specific Intracellular Delivery of miRNA-204

Dan Li et al.

Summary: Cell type-specific drug delivery using hyaluronic acid (HA) coated bovine milk exosomes (HA-mExo) shows promising results for targeted cancer therapy. The HA coating allows for specific targeting of CD44-positive cancer cells, leading to increased uptake of microRNA-204-5p mimics (miR-204). Compared to uncoated exosomes, HA-mExo demonstrates significantly enhanced antitumor efficacy with excellent biocompatibility.

M(6)A-mediated up-regulation of LncRNA LIFR-AS1 enhances the progression of pancreatic cancer via miRNA-150-5p/ VEGFA/Akt signaling

Jian-Qing Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the upregulation of m(6)A induced LIFR-AS1 in pancreatic cancer is associated with tumor characteristics and progression, partially mediated by the miR-150-5p/VEGFA axis. The results suggest that targeting the m6A-LIFR-AS1 regulatory axis could be a potential therapeutic strategy for pancreatic cancer treatment.

Assessment of tissue perfusion of pancreatic cancer as potential imaging biomarker by means of Intravoxel incoherent motion MRI and CT perfusion: correlation with histological microvessel density as ground truth

Philipp Mayer et al.

Summary: This study compares IVIM-derived f(tumor) and CT perfusion-derived BFtumor for evaluating tumor vascularity in PDAC, showing they can be equally applicable as quantitative imaging biomarkers for tumor perfusion evaluation and characterization. The correlation coefficients between IVIM and CT perfusion parameters along with histological microvessel parameters suggest their potential for clinical use in distinguishing tumors from upstream parenchyma effectively.

Global, regional, and national cancer incidence and death for 29 cancer groups in 2019 and trends analysis of the global cancer burden, 1990-2019

Longfei Lin et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the mortality and morbidity of 29 types of cancer in 204 countries or regions from 1990 to 2019. It found that the global cancer burden continues to increase, with males having about 1.5 times higher cancer death and incidence rates compared to females. Asia faces the heaviest cancer burden, and the mortality and morbidity of most cancers are related to the development level of countries.

Coordination of Di-Acetylated Histone Ligands by the ATAD2 Bromodomain

Chiara M. Evans et al.

Summary: ATAD2 functions as a co-activator in DNA replication and histone recognition, and is up-regulated in various forms of cancer, correlating with poor prognosis. The study reveals the recognition of histone acetyllysine modifications by ATAD2 bromodomain, illustrating specific interactions that make it a potential target for cancer therapeutics.
