Herein, we demonstrate that quantum-sized Pd dot-decorated ultrathin anatase TiO2 nanosheets with exposed (001) facets (2 wt%) exhibit a highly efficient catalytic activity for hydrogen generation from formaldehyde solution at room temperature, which is much higher than that of traditional Pd/TiO2 (Degussa P25) and pure Pd nanoparticles. By further optimizing the reaction parameters, the hydrogen generation rates could reach up to 250 mL g(-1) min(-1) and keep consistent for ten hours. Owing to its high efficiency and stability, this hydrogen production reaction may serve as an alternative technique for supplying hydrogen in practical applications.
