Recent studies have shown that the da/dN versus ΔK curves associated with crack growth in different manufacturing methods can collapse onto a single master curve, indicating the independence of crack growth behavior from manufacturing processes.
It has recently been shown that when the da/dN versus & UDelta;K curves associated with crack growth in conventionally manufactured, additively manufactured (AM), and cold spray additively manufactured (CSAM) 316L stainless steel are replotted with da/dN expressed as a function of the Schwalbe crack driving force (& UDelta;), then the various different curves collapsed onto a single master curve. This study reveals that this phenomenon also arises for crack growth in titanium, nickel, and aluminum. In each case, the da/dN versus & UDelta; relationship is shown to be independent of whether the specimen was conventionally manufactured or produced by CSAM.
