Dielectric Spectroscopy and Electric Modulus Analyses of Ti0.8O2 Nanosheets-Ag Nanoparticles-Cellulose Filter Paper Composites

Tosapol Maluangnont et al.

Summary: In this study, dielectric spectroscopy and the complex electric modulus formalism were used to characterize the electrical properties of Ti0.8O2 nanosheets-Ag nanoparticles-cellulose filter paper composites, which are intended for use as a triboelectric nanogenerator. The addition of these fillers increased the dielectric permittivity and AC conductivity, while maintaining a low loss tangent. The analysis revealed a three-dimensional hopping mechanism in the composited films, contrasting with the conduction in ceramics. The Ti0.8O2 nanosheets acted as a charge generation/reservoir, while the Ag nanoparticles generated long-range conduction paths.

Achieving a highly efficient chitosan-based triboelectric nanogenerator via adding organic proteins: Influence of morphology and molecular structure

Thitirat Charoonsuk et al.

Summary: The study focuses on utilizing biodegradable materials in the development of efficient triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) for electronic devices operating near the human body. By incorporating protein-based compounds as fillers in a chitosan (CS) matrix, the output performance of TENG was improved. Different types of proteins, such as albumin, egg-shell membrane (ESM) and silk fiber (SF), were explored for their effects on output performance, with the combination of glycine, alanine, and serine proving to be the most effective in enhancing TENG output voltage and current. A high humidity-resistive triboelectric nanogenerator via coupling of dielectric material selection and surface-charge engineering

Lu Liu et al.

Summary: The output performance of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) in high humidity environments can be improved by selecting appropriate dielectric materials and surface charge engineering, especially by increasing the hydrophobicity of the dielectric materials. Ionic charges are found to be more stable than electronic charges under humid conditions, and a TENG utilizing hydrophobic dielectric material of PTFE and ion injection strategy retained around 91% of its initial output performance after 50,000 operation cycles at 90% relative humidity. This work not only demonstrates a technique for high humidity-resistive TENGs, but also opens opportunities for practical applications in diverse environments.
