Green synthesis of novel bis(hexahydro-1H-xanthene-1,8(2H)-diones) employing p-toluenesulfonic acid (p-TSA) as a solid acid catalyst

Ahmed F. Darweesh et al.

Summary: A series of novel bis(hexahydro-1H-xanthene-1,8(2H)-diones) were efficiently synthesized in good to excellent yields by the reaction of 5,5-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione with appropriate bis-aldehydes using p-TSA as a solid catalyst. Alternatively, the reaction of bis-aldehydes with barbituric acid or 1,3-dimethylbarbituric acid produced corresponding Knoevenagel condensation adducts in good yield.

Catalytic behaviour of solid acidic SO42--SnO2-fly ash peony flower like nano catalyst on the synthesis of some E-Pyrenyl enones

K. G. Sekar et al.

Summary: The sulphated tin oxide-fly ash peony flower like nano catalyst was utilized for the synthesis of Epyrenyl enones through microwave irradiation Aldol condensation, resulting in approximately 80% yields under solvent-free conditions. The catalytic properties and reusability of SO42--SnO2-fly ash peony flower were investigated, while the synthesized E-pyrenyl enones were characterized by their physical properties and spectroscopic data. Additionally, the impact of solvents on the yield was also studied.

Green, efficient and economical coal fly ash based phosphomolybdic acid catalysts: preparation, characterization and application

Sakshi Kabra Malpani et al.

Summary: Cost-effective, efficient, and green solid acid catalysts were synthesized by impregnating various weight fractions of phosphomolybdic acid on mechanically and thermally activated coal fly ash. The developed catalyst showed high catalytic activity in acylation reactions conducted in microwave heating mode, and could be recycled up to five reaction cycles with high conversion percentage.
