Unraveling the Synergistic Effect of Heteroatomic Substitution andVacancy Engineering in CoFe2O4for Superior Electrocatalysis Performance

Jing Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, CoFe2O4-based hollow nanospheres with outstanding oxygen evolution reaction activity were prepared by Cr3+ substitution and S2-exchange. Cr3+ can be precisely doped into octahedral Fe sites and simultaneously induce Co vacancy, activating adjacent tetrahedral Fe3+. S2-exchange results in structuredistortion of tetrahedral Fe due to compressive strain effect, enhancing the adsorption of *OOH. The Co vacancy and S2-exchange can adjust the geometric and electronic structure of tetrahedral Fe, improving the electrochemical performance.

Dynamic stretching-electroplating metal-coated textile for a flexible and stretchable zinc-air battery

Shengxiang Qu et al.

Summary: In this study, a flexible and stretchable metal-coated textile was developed using a dynamic stretching-electroplating method. The textile exhibited high stretchability and stable conductivity, thanks to its unique woven and wavy structure. The stretching of the metal-coated textile was mainly attributed to the deformation of the microfiber network at the bottom position of the wave structure. A composite hydrogel with excellent ionic conductivity, mechanical properties, and water retention properties was used as the electrolyte. A flexible and stretchable sandwich-structure zinc-air battery assembled with the above electrodes and electrolyte demonstrated stable operation even under rapid stretching/releasing cycle deformation.
