Summary: This study evaluates 26 friction model/interface representation combinations to quantify the model form error for fitting or predicting structures' responses. The findings suggest that smoothly varying models exhibit high flexibility for fitting the first mode, while more physically motivated models perform slightly better for predicting higher modes.
