Perylenetetracarboxylic acid nanosheets with internal electric fields and anisotropic charge migration for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Yan Guo et al.

Summary: This study synthesized perylenetetracarboxylic acid nanosheets with a thickness of approximately 1.5 nm and demonstrated their activity as highly efficient hydrogen evolution photocatalysts. The introduction of carboxyl groups increased the internal electric fields, promoting charge-carrier separation, and weakened charge-carrier recombination by migrating photogenerated electrons and holes to the edge and plane, respectively. Furthermore, the reduction potential and hydrophilic sites of perylenetetracarboxylic acid were enhanced. This work provides a strategy for designing future efficient photocatalysts.

One-pot in-situ hydrothermal synthesis of ternary In2S3/Nb2O5/Nb2C Schottky/S-scheme integrated heterojunction for efficient photocatalytic hydrogen production

Muhammad Tayyab et al.

Summary: MXene-derived photocatalysts have the potential for developing photo-driven green and sustainable fuel production, but their efficiency is currently low. In this study, a ternary photocatalyst derived from Nb2C MXene was synthesized, leading to improved efficiency and stability in photocatalytic hydrogen production. The optimized ternary photocatalyst composite exhibited the highest H-2 evolution efficiency and maintained high activity after multiple cycles.

Application of Titanate Nanotubes for Photocatalytic Decontamination in Water: Challenges and Prospects

Haodong Ji et al.

Summary: Photocatalysis using titanate nanotubes (TNTs) is an effective technology for water decontamination and purification. TNTs have a uniform tubular microstructure, large specific surface area, high photoelectric conversion properties, and good stability. They are widely used for removal of heavy metals and organic contaminants through photocatalytic oxidation or reduction. However, there are still challenges in fundamental research and practical applications.

Self-Doping Surface Oxygen Vacancy-Induced Lattice Strains for Enhancing Visible Light-Driven Photocatalytic H2 Evolution over Black TiO2

Jiaqi Gao et al.

Summary: The synergistic effect of surface oxygen vacancy and induced lattice strains on black TiO2 can significantly enhance the photocatalytic H-2 evolution under visible light. The presence of surface oxygen vacancies leads to the formation of a high-energy surface, which improves visible light absorption and enhances the photoinduced charge separation efficiency. Additionally, the induced lattice strains provide a driving force for the directional movement of photoinduced electrons from the bulk to the high-energy surface, resulting in a 12-fold increase in the hydrogen evolution rate.

Monoclinic BiPO4: Preparation, photocatalytic properties in experiment and theoretical calculation

Xiaoqing Li et al.

Summary: By modifying the morphology and properties of BiPO4 with a structure-directing agent, polyvinylpyrrolidone, carbon was introduced into the crystal lattice, modulating the band structure and forming a sub-band. This led to enhanced photocatalytic activity by inhibiting carrier recombination and prolonging their lifetime. The modified BiPO4 exhibited a reaction rate constant more than 3 times higher than pure BiPO4 in the degradation of RhB dye.
