Reduced Iodinated Contrast Media Administration in Coronary CT Angiography on a Clinical Photon-Counting Detector CT System A Phantom Study Using a Dynamic Circulation Model

Tilman Emrich et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate strategies for reducing contrast media volumes in coronary computed tomography (CT) angiography using a clinical first-generation dual-source photon-counting detector (PCD-CT) system. The results showed that by using virtual monoenergetic image reconstructions at 40 keV on a dual-source PCD-CT system, contrast media concentration could be reduced by 50% to obtain diagnostic attenuation and objective image quality for coronary CT angiography in a dynamic vessel phantom.

Metal artifact correction in photon-counting detector computed tomography: metal trace replacement using high-energy data

Devon Richtsmeier et al.

Summary: In this study, a new metal artifact reduction (MAR) algorithm called trace replacement MAR (TRMAR) was introduced. It corrected the data corrupted by metal artifacts using high-energy data and improved the image quality and reduction of artifacts in the resulting reconstruction.

First In-Human Results of Computed Tomography Angiography for Coronary Stent Assessment With a Spectral Photon Counting Computed Tomography

Sara Boccalini et al.

Summary: This study compared the image quality of in vivo coronary stents between an energy integrating detectors dual-layer computed tomography (EID-DLCT) and a clinical prototype of spectral photon counting computed tomography (SPCCT). The results showed that SPCCT demonstrated improved objective and subjective image quality compared to EID-DLCT, even with a reduced radiation dose.
