Three-dimensional hierarchical pore biochar prepared from soybean protein and its excellent Cr(VI) adsorption

Qunfeng Kuang et al.

Summary: Biochar with a three-dimensional hierarchical pore structure and high specific surface area is prepared using soy-bean protein. The biochar exhibits an excellent adsorption capacity for Cr(VI) ions due to its large surface area, three-dimensional framework structure, and the presence of micro-mesopores. The saturated adsorption capacity remains high after multiple adsorption-desorption cycles.

Direct synthesis of efficient silica-based adsorbents carrying EDTA groups for the separation of Cu(II) and Ni(II) ions

Nataliya V. Stolyarchuk et al.

Summary: In this study, spherical organosilica particles with EDTA chelating groups were successfully prepared for the selective extraction of Cu(II) and Ni(II) cations from aqueous solutions. The morphology, particle size, and porosity of the particles were significantly influenced by the order of introduction of different components. By varying the ratio of bridged silane, it is possible to control the specific surface area values and particle size of the EDTA-polysilsesquioxanes.

Flexible and easy-handling pristine polypyrrole membranes with bayberry-like vesicle structure for enhanced Cr(VI) removal from aqueous solution

Yimeng Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a flexible polypyrrole membrane (PPy-B) with bayberry-like vesicle structures was prepared using template-assisted interfacial polymerization. Sodium sulfosalicylate was introduced as a dopant to improve the flexibility and strength of the membrane, as well as to increase the specific surface area and doping level. The PPy-B membrane exhibited high adsorption capacity, reusability, and ultimate adsorption capacity, making it a promising candidate for wastewater treatment.

Polypyrrole coated molybdenum disulfide composites as adsorbent for enhanced removal of Cr(VI) in aqueous solutions by adsorption combined with reduction

Li Xiang et al.

Summary: The study successfully fabricated PPy/MoS2 composites as efficient sorbents for Cr(VI) removal, showing superior adsorption capacity and cyclic stability. The sorption of Cr(VI) was significantly influenced by pH, with optimal removal efficiency achieved under acidic conditions; the adsorption process was mainly controlled by pseudo-second-order kinetics and Langmuir isotherm model; ion exchange, chemical reduction, and surface chelation played crucial roles in the elimination of Cr(VI).
