Radiation mediated oxidation processes for the conversion of 4-amino- thiophenol in to 4, 4′-dimercaptoazobenzene

A. B. Phatangare et al.

Summary: Gold (Au) nanoparticles with an average size of 4 nm were synthesized and embedded on SiO2 nanospheres in a single step process. The presence of Au nanoparticles enhanced the conversion of 4-ATP into 4, 4'-DMAB and increased the intensity of SERS peaks. The role of OH- radicals from NaOH in this conversion process was found to be crucial.

Effects of solvent polarity on the novel excited-state intramolecular thiol proton transfer and photophysical property compared with the oxygen proton transfer

Lujia Yang et al.

Summary: The dual-fluorescent phenomena of excited state intramolecular thiol proton transfer (ESIPT) for 3-thiolflavone derivative (3NTF) were reported for the first time, opening a new chapter in the field of ESIPT. The study investigated the proton transfer processes of 3NTF in different solvents and found that solvent polarities inhibited the enhancement of the hydrogen bond of the excited state, which was not conducive to ESIPT. The research also revealed that the unusually large Stokes shift fluorescence of 3NTF was mainly caused by the coupling of ESIPT and twisting intramolecular charge transfer (TICT).

Summary: In this study, a bimetallic nanostructure with magnetic and excellent surface-enhanced Raman spectrometry (SERS) performance was successfully prepared. By overcoming the problem of magnetic target material in magnetron sputtering, a ferro-nickel alloy was uniformly sputtered onto cicada wings to make the substrate magnetic. Then, mass-produced and dense silver nanoparticles were deposited on the alloy film to further optimize the SERS substrate. The fabricated SERS substrate showed enhanced SERS intensity, magnetic property, polarization-independence, excellent sensitivity, and reproducibility.

Liting Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of magnetron sputtering to deposit Ag film on wheat leaves and Rhodamine 6G (R6G) as a probe to detect the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) difference caused by different structures. The results show that the Raman intensity of the micro-protrusions is stronger than that of the flat parts, indicating that the protrusion structure contains more gaps per unit area, providing more hot spots and improving the SERS signal.

Hybrid SERS platform by adapting both chemical mechanism and electromagnetic mechanism enhancements: SERS of 4-ATP and CV by the mixture with GQDs on hybrid PdAg NPs

Rutuja Mandavkar et al.

Summary: Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a versatile analytical technique widely used for the identification of target analytes at low concentrations. In this study, a unique hybrid SERS platform utilizing graphene quantum dots (GQDs) and hybrid PdAg NPs is demonstrated for the detection of 4-amino-thiophenol (4-ATP) and crystal violet (CV). The combination of electromagnetic mechanism (EM) and chemical mechanism (CM) enhancements on a single SERS substrate leads to significant enhancement of originally weak Raman signals. By adjusting the mixture ratio, the SERS signals can be further enhanced.
