Intravenous Hydrogen Therapy With Intracisternal Magnesium Sulfate Infusion in Severe Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Satoru Takeuchi et al.

Summary: This study showed that intracisternal magnesium sulfate infusion initiated immediately after surgery in patients with poor-grade subarachnoid hemorrhage can effectively reduce the incidence of cerebral vasospasm and delayed cerebral ischemia, improving clinical outcomes without complications. The combination of intracisternal magnesium sulfate infusion and intravenous hydrogen therapy also decreased levels of serum malondialdehyde and neuron-specific enolase, and improved Barthel index, indicating additional benefits of hydrogen therapy.

Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: Review of the Pathophysiology and Management Strategies

Marcey L. Osgood

Summary: Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage remains a devastating disease despite medical advances, with recent focus on early brain injury as the precursor to delayed cerebral ischemia. Management strategies have not significantly progressed in recent years, but understanding of pathophysiology is expanding for future therapeutic targets.
