Time-resolved mode power decomposition for nonlinear multimode fibers

In this experiment, the mode power distribution from long spans of graded-index multimode fiber is investigated. It is found that, at relatively low powers, linear random mode coupling leads to a Bose-Einstein mode distribution. At powers near the nonlinear soliton regime, the distribution approaches a modified Rayleigh-Jeans law.
