Identification of bioactive natural products using yeast:Application to monoacylglycerol lipase inhibitor extraction from Corydalis Rhizoma

Jie Mei et al.

Summary: Identification of bioactive principles from natural products is a challenging task in drug discovery. In this study, a yeast-based drug discovery strategy was used to screen and identify potential inhibitors of MAGL from traditional Chinese medicines. The compound dehydrocorydaline (DHC) from Corydalis Rhizoma was identified as a ligand to MAGL with high inhibitory activity. This strategy proved to be powerful for drug discovery in complex mixtures.

Discovery of tetrahydropalmatine and protopine regulate the expression of dopamine receptor D2 to alleviate migraine from Yuanhu Zhitong formula

Xiaohui Zhang et al.

Summary: Migraine is a common disease with negative impacts on patients' quality of life. Traditional Chinese medicine prescription YHZTF contains compounds like tetrahydropalmatine and protopine, which target dopamine receptors and alleviate migraine symptoms in an animal model by regulating DRD2 expression. This study sheds light on potential natural product-based therapeutic strategies for migraine.
