Spatial variation in sediment connectivity of small watershed along a regional transect on the Loess Plateau

Summary: This study investigates the spatial variation in sediment connectivity and its influencing factors in small watersheds on the Loess Plateau using the index of connectivity (IC) and redundancy analysis (RDA). The results show that IC increases from south to north and the relationship between IC and environmental factors differs between different small watersheds. Vegetation and climate are found to be the main factors influencing the spatial variation in IC.

Comparing the impacts of wildfire and meteorological variability on hydrological and erosion responses in a Mediterranean catchment

Summary: This study in a burnt catchment in southern Portugal found that post-wildfire hydro-sedimentary response was limited, with meteorological variability playing a stronger role than wildfire effects. Summary: Check dams play a vital role in soil and water conservation in the Chinese Loess Plateau region, but their connection to downstream channels and impact on structural connectivity and sediment interception efficiency have been understudied. This research classified various connection modes between check dams and downstream channels, quantitatively evaluated structural connectivity, and found that the absence of a discharge canal at a main control check dam significantly reduces the connectivity of the dam system. Additionally, different connection modes have a major impact on structural connectivity.

Effectiveness of post-fire soil erosion mitigation treatments: A systematic review and meta-analysis
