Ellenberg-type indicator values for European vascular plant species

Lubomir Tichy et al.

Summary: This study aims to create a harmonized data set of Ellenberg-type indicator values applicable at the European scale by incorporating indicator values from other European regions. The researchers collected and compared data from 13 data sets and provided a new data set of Ellenberg-type indicator values for 8908 European vascular plant species.

Global Overview of Modern Research Based on Ellenberg Indicator Values

Ekaterina Zolotova et al.

Summary: Ecological indicator values are commonly and effectively used for habitat assessment. Research analysis shows that using Ellenberg indicator values can address a variety of problems, with a focus on forests and grasslands in Germany and Poland. The studies cover ecological niches, habitat analysis, vegetation dynamics, and the influence of various factors on plants. Overall, this approach proves to be effective in addressing urgent issues in different plant communities and climate zones.

Contribution of Agro-Environmental Factors to Yield and Plant Diversity of Olive Grove Ecosystems (Olea europaea L.) in the Mediterranean Landscape

Alexandra D. Solomou et al.

Summary: The study found that yields of organic olive groves can be increased by increasing manure application and earthworm density, while yields of conventional olive groves can be increased by increasing soil organic matter and application of inorganic fertilizer N. Additionally, herbaceous plant species richness increases with various factors, highlighting the importance of maintaining ecological balance and sustainable agriculture.

Biotic and abiotic factors determine species diversity-productivity relationships in mountain meadows

Jia-Jia Liu et al.

Summary: This study conducted randomized block factorial experiments in three meadows on Yulong Mountain, China, using open-top chambers and urea fertilizer manipulations to simulate warming and nitrogen addition. The research found that species diversity and functional diversity decreased with increasing elevation, while productivity also decreased with elevation. The study highlighted the negative effects of short-term warming on species diversity and emphasized the importance of both biotic and abiotic drivers of species diversity-productivity relationships in mountain meadow communities.
