Experimental study on combined valorization of bituminous coal derived fluidized bed fly ash and carbon dioxide from energy sector

Janusz Zdeb et al.

Summary: Mineralization of carbon dioxide using alkaline earth metals rich waste provides the opportunity for both carbon dioxide utilization and waste valorization. This study presents the results of an experimental investigation on a dry, direct carbonation method using bituminous coal derived fluidized bed fly ash under ambient conditions. The porous structure parameters of the process product were analyzed.

Co-gasification of refuse-derived fuels and bituminous coal with oxygen/steam blend to hydrogen rich gas

Adam Smolinski et al.

Summary: The paper explores the application of the gasification technology of refuse-derived fuels (RDF) with bituminous coal in hydrogen production and circular economy development. The research findings indicate that an increase in the proportion of RDF in the fuel blend leads to a decrease in the total gas yield and hydrogen yield. RDF2, with a higher calcium concentration, exhibits a higher H2 yield during co-gasification with coal.

Sewage sludge and phytomass co-pyrolysis and the gasification of its chars: A kinetics and reaction mechanism study

Beata Urych et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the kinetics and mechanisms of pyrolysis and gasification processes of sewage sludge and phytomass blends, suggesting that mixing these two types of waste can improve fuel quality and conversion efficiency. The two-stage gasification process combining co-pyrolysis and hot char gasification is considered sustainable for the production of combustible gas.

Simulation of steam reforming of biogas in an industrial reformer for hydrogen production

Kantilal Chouhan et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the steam reforming of biogas for hydrogen production in an industrial-scale reformer. The developed non-isothermal reactor model shows excellent agreement with previous modeling studies and lab-scale experiments. Changes in biogas compositions have been studied to optimize the performance of the industrial steam reformer, with preferable feed conditions identified for methane conversion and hydrogen yield close to thermodynamic equilibrium conditions.
