Four novel Z-shaped hexanuclear vanadium oxide clusters as efficient heterogeneous catalysts for cycloaddition of CO2 and oxidative desulfurization reactions

Jilei Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of new hexavanadate clusters were reported, assembled by 2-aminophenol and four different kinds of Lewis bases. Among them, the basic unit {V-6} cluster featured a Z-shaped configuration and represented a brand-new example of hexanuclear vanadium clusters. The catalytic tests demonstrated that V-6-1 exhibited high catalytic activity in the cycloaddition for CO2 fixation and oxidative desulfurization reactions.

Diphosphoryl-functionalized Polyoxometalates: Structurally and Electronically Tunable Hybrid Molecular Materials

Sharad S. Amin et al.

Summary: Here, we report the synthesis and characterization of a new class of hybrid Wells-Dawson polyoxometalate (POM) with a diphosphoryl group (P2O6X). Modifying the bridging unit X impacts the redox potentials of the POM. The easy preparation of a range of alpha-functionalized diphosphonic acids (X=(CRR2)-R-1) provides possibilities for diverse functionalized hybrid POMs. Compared to existing phosphonate hybrid Wells-Dawson POMs, diphosphoryl-substituted POMs offer a wider tunable redox window and enhanced hydrolytic stability. This study provides a basis for the rational design and synthesis of next-generation hybrid Wells-Dawson POMs.

Role of Multiple Vanadium Centers on Redox Buffering and Rates of Polyvanadomolybdate-Cu(II)-Catalyzed Aerobic Oxidations

Xinlin Lu et al.

Summary: A recent report revealed that the TBA salt of PV6Mo6 serves as a redox buffer for deodorization of thiols in acetonitrile with Cu(II) as a co-catalyst. The number of vanadium atoms in PVMo has a significant impact on the catalytic activity, with PVMo containing more vanadium atoms exhibiting higher activity due to their ability to undergo more and faster redox changes.
