Smart Graphene-Based Electrochemical Nanobiosensor for Clinical Diagnosis: Review

Irkham Irkham et al.

Summary: The advancement in various scientific fields has led to the development of electrochemical biosensors. However, conventional biosensors face challenges such as interference and low sensitivity. Scientists are incorporating nanoparticles and nanocomposites to enhance the performance of biosensors, with graphene nanostructures being particularly promising. Integrating the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) with biosensors can improve disease diagnosis and treatment. This review discusses the role of graphene-based electrochemical biosensors integrated with Artificial Intelligence AI and IoMT in clinical diagnostics.

Dielectric-Modulated Biosensing with Ultrahigh-Frequency-Operated Graphene Field-Effect Transistors

Xiaoyan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of electrolyte gating and ultrahigh-frequency technology to enhance the sensitivity of graphene biosensors. By canceling out ionic screening at ultrahigh frequencies, the biosensors can be directly used in high-salt solutions. By combining electrolyte gating and ultrahigh-frequency reflectometry, the graphene biosensors enable real-time monitoring of biomolecular and cell interactions with superior detection limits.

Machine Learning in Measurement Part 1: Error Contribution and Terminology Confusion

Shervin Shirmohammadi et al.

Summary: Instrumentation and Measurement (I&M) and Machine Learning (ML) are two fields that are currently experiencing the impact of the rise of Applied AI. While terminology used in both fields may sound or look similar, it is important to understand the differences in order to fully grasp the influence of ML in an I&M system. Additionally, the importance of measurement uncertainty is well-known in I&M, but has been under-studied in the context of ML.

Detection of a SARS-CoV-2 sequence with genosensors using data analysis based on information visualization and machine learning techniques

Juliana Coatrini Soares et al.

Summary: This study presents genosensors for detecting an ssDNA sequence from the SARS-CoV-2 genome using four detection principles and data processing techniques such as information visualization and machine learning. Genosensors were fabricated on different electrodes for electrical and electrochemical measurements, and on Au nanoparticles for optical measurements, showing high sensitivity and selectivity in detecting complementary ssDNA sequences. The results suggest promising applications of these genosensors for point-of-care detection of SARS-CoV-2 genetic material in biological fluids.
