Dominant anatase TiO2 (001) with rich surface hydroxyls as catalytic active sites for selective catalytic oxidation of cyclohexylamine to cyclohexanone oxime

Wenjin Ni et al.

Summary: This study developed an environmentally friendly and efficient method for the selective oxidation of cyclohexylamine to cyclohexanone oxime by preparing TiO2 nanocrystals with different facets ratios. The dominant anatase TiO2 (001) catalyst showed promising results with 51.3% conversion of cyclohexylamine and 86.3% selectivity to cyclohexanone oxime, along with excellent stability. The TiO2 (001) facet provided abundant surface hydroxyl groups as catalytic active sites. DFT calculations revealed that the energy barriers for the rate determining steps in the oxidation of N-H bond on TiO2 (001) facet were lower than those on (101) facet, indicating better catalytic performance. This work offers new insights into the design of catalytic active sites for the selective oxidation of amines to oximes.

Novel functional TiPO/SiO2 catalyst enriched surface hydroxyl groups for highly selective catalytic oxidation of cyclohexylamine to cyclohexanone oxime

Wenjin Ni et al.

Summary: Developing a low-cost and environmentally benign alternative approach for the production of cyclohexanone oxime is of strategic importance due to the growing demand for caprolactam used in nylon-6 production. In this study, a novel supported catalyst, TiPO/SiO2, was successfully prepared and demonstrated promising catalytic activity and stability for the oxidation of cyclohexylamine to cyclohexanone oxime. The characterization of the catalyst confirmed the presence of abundant surface hydroxyls, which were identified as the main catalytic active sites. The research also provided insights into the reaction pathway and energy profiles, highlighting the potential industrial application of the TiPO/SiO2 catalyst.

Amira Ben Gouider Trabelsi et al.

Summary: This paper describes the synthesis of free-standing rolled graphene oxide (roll-GO) and polypyrrole (Ppy) and the development of a photodetector using these materials. The roll-GO exhibited a rolled structure and had a small bandgap of 2.4 eV. The photodetector showed high photoresponsivity and detectivity values, which were further improved by the addition of Ppy. The Ppy/roll-GO/tape photoelectrode demonstrated excellent performance and potential for industrial applications.

Reusable Deep Eutectic Solvents for Clean ε-Caprolactam Synthesis under Mild Conditions

Shiqin Sun et al.

Summary: A deep eutectic solvent (DES) with adjustable Bronsted acidity was easily prepared using choline chloride (ChCI) and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TfOH). This DES [ChCl][TfOH](3) exhibited great stability and excellent catalytic performance in the Beckmann rearrangement reaction. Under mild conditions, high cydohexanone oxime (CHO) conversion (100%) and epsilon-caprolactam selectivity (98.8%) were achieved. The DES [ChCI][TfOH](3) could be easily prepared, recovered, and reused for multiple runs without significant loss of catalytic performance. The reaction had a free energy (Delta G) of -32.8 and an activation energy (E-a) of 39.82 kJ mol(-1). DFT results showed that the intermolecular hydrogen bond between ChCI and TfOH improved the thermal stability of DES and provided a good sponge effect for the active hydrogen catalytic center required for the reaction. This study demonstrated the potential practicality of the DES catalytic system for the Beckmann rearrangement reaction, offering advantages such as good yields, short reaction times, and easy catalyst recoveries.
