A new CTAB-activated charcoal-based method has been developed for extracting high-quality genomic DNA from Terminalia bellirica. The method is rapid, reliable, and versatile, allowing extraction from fresh and desiccated plant materials. The extracted DNA is of exceptional purity and suitable for further analysis.
A new CTAB-activated charcoal-based method has been developed to overcome the challenges of extracting high-quality genomic DNA from Terminalia bellirica (Gaertn.) Roxb., a medicinal plant rich in diverse compounds. The newly introduced method is rapid, reliable, and versatile, allowing DNA extraction from fresh and desiccated leaves and seeds. The extracted DNA shows exceptional purity, with an A260/A280 ratio ranging from 1.71 to 1.86 which further confirmed the integrity and suitability of isolated pure DNAs by performing Polymerase chain reaction analysis using ISSR and SSR microsatellite. This tailored method is specifically designed for plants containing polysaccharides and secondary metabolites.
