Grain growth in pulse reverse electrodeposited copper foil: Contrasting effects of duty cycle during deposition and annealing

Akanksha R. Urade et al.

Summary: The present study examines the effects of duty cycle in pulse reverse electrodeposited copper foil during electrodeposition and annealing. Results show that increasing duty cycles lead to a decrease in grain size and an increase in twin boundaries and crystallite size. However, after annealing, the average grain size increases and the fraction of twin boundaries decreases with an increasing duty cycle. The differences in anodic period and stored energy play important roles in regulating twin probability and grain size during the deposition and annealing processes.

Designed growth of large bilayer graphene with arbitrary twist angles

Can Liu et al.

Summary: This study develops an effective strategy to grow centimeter-scale twisted bilayer graphene with arbitrary twist angles. The accuracy and consistency of the twist angles are demonstrated through comprehensive characterization techniques. This research provides an accessible route for the designed growth of large-scale two-dimensional twisted bilayers, laying the material foundation for future applications in twistronics at the integration level.

Product-Specific Active Site Motifs of Cu for Electrochemical CO2 Reduction

Chenyuan Zhu et al.

Summary: Researchers designed and fabricated nine large-area single-crystal copper foils to study the electrocatalytic CO2 reduction. By using GIXRD and EBSD, they tracked the top-surface reconstructions of copper and extracted three distinct structural descriptors to reveal the structure-function relationships in CO2R.

The Effect of Ethanol on Abnormal Grain Growth in Copper Foils

Zhancheng Li et al.

Summary: This study found that introducing ethanol in pure argon annealing atmosphere can cause abnormal grain growth of copper foil. Additionally, the concentration of ethanol in the annealing atmosphere can control the number of abnormally grown grains, allowing it to be controlled to single one.
