Multiple structural defects in poor-crystalline In-doped NiCo2O4 nanoneedles synergistically and remarkably enhance supercapacitive performance

Xiaohu Luo et al.

Summary: In this work, poor-crystalline Indium (In)-doped NiCo2O4 nanoneedles were synthesized on carbon fiber through a laser-assisted technique. The doping increased the number of active sites, enhanced the electrical conductivity, and promoted charge transfer efficiency. The synthesized material showed high supercapacitor performance and excellent cycle stability when used as an electrode. It also exhibited a high energy density and power density in a solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor.

Designing novel organic inhibitor loaded MgAl-LDHs nanocontainer for enhanced corrosion resistance

Lian Ma et al.

Summary: The combination of LDH nanocontainers and organic inhibitors shows great potential in corrosion protection, with a high-efficiency approach of intercalating organic inhibitors into LDHs demonstrated in this study. The synthesized LDHs loaded with AIA exhibit controlled release behavior and excellent anti-corrosion performance on copper, as characterized by UV-vis spectra and electrochemical tests. Further analysis of the LDHs structure and morphology was conducted using SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, XPS, and TGA, along with investigations into corrosion products and anti-corrosion mechanisms using SEM and XRD tests.

Purine derivatives as high efficient eco-friendly inhibitors for the corrosion of mild steel in acidic medium: Experimental and theoretical calculations

Zhineng Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, two purine derivatives, FAP and N-BAP, were evaluated as eco-friendly corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in HCl solution, showing high inhibition performance and stability. The adsorption mechanism on steel surface and the diffusion behavior of corrosive species were elucidated through theoretical calculations and molecular dynamics simulations. The results demonstrate that the adsorbed films of FAP and N-BAP effectively prevent the diffusion of corrosive species, thereby inhibiting the corrosion of mild steel.

Corrosion inhibition potential of chitosan based Schiff bases: Design, performance and applications

Chandrabhan Verma et al.

Summary: Chitosan is a linear polysaccharide composed of D-glucosamine and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine linked together via beta-1,4-glycosidic linkage. Due to increasing ecological awareness, it is considered an ideal environmentally sustainable alternative. While unmodified chitosan itself is not highly effective in aqueous phase corrosion inhibition, chemically modified derivatives like CSBs show remarkable solubility in electrolytes. Chelation adsorption of CSBs has been discussed as a mechanism for aqueous phase corrosion inhibition.
