Piecewise affine model identification and predictive control for ultra-supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler unit

Chen Yang et al.

Summary: In this paper, an improved subspace identification method based on the steady-state points' deviations data was proposed to identify piecewise affine model, fully considering the form of the nonlinear model after linearization. The method demonstrates better adaptability to strong nonlinear systems with identification normalized root mean square error mostly less than 10% for each working condition. A widely applicable framework for complex system control is established, combining with the mixed logic dynamic model and performing canonical form realization to transfer local models into the same state basis. The effectiveness of the framework is validated through predictive control on the boiler-turbine system of the 660-MW ultrasupercritical circulating fluidized bed unit.

An organic silicone composite coating for protection of Ti-6Al-4V alloy: Oxidation behavior at 600 C in dry air

Yiliang Lu et al.

Summary: A new organic silicone composite coating modified by Al, ZrO2, quartz and PbO-SiO2-Al2O3 glass powders was developed to protect Ti-6Al-4V alloy. The coating was oxidized at 600 degrees C, forming an inorganic composite coating composed of amorphous silica framework and fillers, which effectively reduced the oxidation rate of the alloy. The formation of Al2SiO5 in the coating was attributed to the reaction between Al and glass. The glass powders with a softening point of 385 degrees C was found to improve the protective properties of the coating by filling the cavities formed by oxidation of organic components.

Corrosion protection of carbon steel using a combination of Zr conversion coating and subsequent zinc-rich silicate coating with a flake ZnAl alloy

Nguyen Hoang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of zirconium pretreatment and partial replacement of spherical zinc with flake ZnAl alloy to enhance the corrosion protection properties of zinc-rich silicate coatings on steel. The results show that the zirconium pre-treated layer with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane improves the corrosion protection of the bare steel. Additionally, the inclusion of flake ZnAl pigment significantly improves corrosion resistance and prolongs the duration of cathodic protection in the coatings.

Influence of cooling rate on δ-ferrite/γ-austenite formation and precipitation behavior of 18Cr-Al-Si ferritic heat-resistant stainless steel

Yingbo Zhang et al.

Summary: The formation and precipitation behavior of delta-ferrite/gamma-austenite in 18Cr-Al-Si FHSS during solidification were investigated. It was found that the cooling rate affects the phase transformation process, and gamma-austenite first precipitated at the delta-ferrite phase boundaries and then appeared within the delta-ferrite phase, with some of it transforming into martensite.

Effect of Al2O3 content on microstructure and oxidation behavior of silicate enamel coatings on a Ni-based superalloy at 1000?C

Fengjie Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the microstructural evolution and cyclic oxidation behavior of silicate enamel coating with different contents of Al2O3 on K444 superalloy. The results showed that high content of Al2O3 can effectively inhibit crystal precipitation and mass loss, and enhance oxidation resistance and bonding strength through the formation of a continuous alumina scale at the interface.

Effects of adhesive modulus and curing conditions on curing behavior of silicate based ceramic coatings on carbon fiber reinforced resin matrix composites

Meimei Ji et al.

Summary: In the preparation of ceramic coatings on carbon fiber reinforced epoxy resin matrix composite surface using sodium silicate, the modulus of adhesive, curing agent, temperature, and time all significantly influence the curing behavior of the coatings. It was found that coatings with a modulus of 2.7 of silicate adhesive were dense and continuous, with SiO2 as a better curing agent than Na2SiF6. Curing at 100 degrees C for an extended time improved the characteristics of the coatings.

A study into enhanced oxidation resistance and its mechanism in Cr1-xAlxN/CrN/Cr multilayer films deposited on 9-12 % Cr heat-resistant steel

Wen-Sheng Yang et al.

Summary: The Cr1-xAlxN/CrN/Cr multilayer films were deposited on 9-12% Cr heat-resistant steel using DCMS with various Al contents. It was found that Al atoms substituted for Cr atoms without changing the crystal structure. The Al doping decreased lattice constants, hindered grain growth, reduced film roughness, and enhanced oxidation resistance by forming an amorphous oxide surface layer.

Protection of 304 stainless steel by nano-modified silicone coating in cyclically alternate corrosion environment

Yiliang Lu et al.

Summary: A nano-modified silicone-based composite coating was developed to protect 304 stainless steel under cyclically alternate corrosion conditions. The coating consists of a continuous amorphous SiO2 matrix, dispersive Al, Al2O3, TiO2 and ZrO2 particles, and discrete voids, which significantly improved the corrosion resistance of 304SS in environments containing NaCl deposit and oxygen at 400 degrees Celsius.
