Translating extracellular vesicle packaging into therapeutic applications

Dilara C. C. Ozkocak et al.

Summary: Extracellular vesicles (EVs), membrane-bound particles released by cells, have the potential to transfer effector molecules and induce potent responses. However, limited therapeutic loading technologies and efficiency have hindered the approval of EV-based therapies and drug delivery. Understanding and translating the biology underlying the packaging and transferring of biomolecule cargos into EVs is crucial for harnessing their therapeutic potential.

Therapeutic potential of dental pulp stem cells and their derivatives: Insights from basic research toward clinical applications

Sheng-Meng Yuan et al.

Summary: Researchers have isolated and identified dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) from different teeth and found that they have superior characteristics compared to bone marrow stem cells. DPSCs and their derivatives have shown beneficial effects in various disease models and are considered excellent candidates for tissue regeneration. This review provides an overview of the potential application of DPSCs and their derivatives in regenerative medicine.

Extracellular matrix-mimicking nanofibrous chitosan microspheres as cell micro-ark for tissue engineering

Hongye Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, ECM-mimicking nanofibrous chitosan microspheres (NCM) were successfully developed through thermal induction of chitosan molecular chain. The research showed that NCM regeneration was a physical process that could be precisely controlled by adjusting the initial solution concentration and reaction temperature. The NCM exhibited desirable biocompatibility and biodegradability, and enhanced cell adhesion and in vitro osteogenic differentiation of rat bone marrow stem cells (rMSCs). In vivo experiments also revealed that pre-differentiated rMSCs-NCM constructs significantly improved bone healing in rat calvarial defects.
