A biocompatible ruthenium-based composite fluorescent probe using bovine serum albumin as a scaffold for ethylene gas detection and its fluorescence imaging in plant tissues

Meng Wu et al.

Summary: This work presents a biocompatible fluorescent probe for trace detection of phytohormone ethylene based on the olefin metathesis reaction. The probe exhibits a satisfactory detection limit and linear range for ethylene, and can also detect ethylene vapor with the naked eye using test paper. Additionally, the probe can be effectively applied to fluorescence imaging in plant tissues.

Chemical Sensors for Farm-to-Table Monitoring of Fruit Quality

Denise Wilson

Summary: Farm-to-table operations differ significantly from conventional corporate-scale agriculture in terms of production, transportation, and delivery, resulting in shorter time to deliver fresh produce to consumers and high expectations for freshness and quality. While resources are scarce for small farms and businesses to deploy quality monitoring sensors, this article analyzes chemical sensor technologies suitable for monitoring fruit quality in farm-to-table operations within power, cost, and size constraints.

Digital twins are coming: Will we need them in supply chains of fresh horticultural produce?

Thijs Defraeye et al.

Summary: Digital twins, virtual representations of products linked to real-world items via sensors, can help quantify and understand quality loss. They have huge potential in postharvest supply chains of fresh horticultural produce, identifying evolving quality loss patterns and providing actionable data for logistics and marketing decisions.

PLANT HORMONES: PHYSIOLOGICAL ROLE AND HEALTH EFFECTS

Samriti Guleria et al.

Summary: Plant hormones play a crucial role in regulating plant growth, increasing crop yield, improving the appearance of fruits and vegetables, and helping plants develop throughout their lifecycle. However, excessive use of plant hormones may pose risks to human health and the environment. Various techniques are employed to detect residues of these regulators for food safety assurance.
