'Listen to me!': Young people's experiences of talking about emotional impacts of climate change

Renewing the purpose of geography education: Eco-anxiety, powerful knowledge, and pathways for transformation

Summary: Despite arguments supporting the value of geography education, concerns about the decline in uptake of secondary geography education continue. Under the current world conditions, this article suggests that it is a moment to revive geography education and give it renewed purpose to encourage young people to develop skills and competences to tackle wicked problems. Drawing on the experiences of three young doctoral candidates, the article explores what a geographical education could offer in terms of relevance, practicality, and engagement with transformative system change.

My Parents Taught horizontal ellipsis Green Was My Growth! The Role of Intergenerational Transmission of Ecological Values in Young Adults' Pro-Environmental Behaviors and Their Psychosocial Mechanisms

Summary: Past research has identified personal values, attitudes, and environmental concerns as important determinants of pro-environmental behaviors (PEBs), while less attention has been given to affect and identity processes. Recent investigations have started to explore the emotional connections with nature and environmental identity in relation to PEBs, as well as the parent-child transmission of ecological values. This study aims to analyze the role of these variables in predicting different PEBs and has found that the emotional connection with nature and environmental identity play significant roles in predicting PEBs. It also highlights the differences in the intergenerational transmission of ecological values between fathers and mothers.

The author argues that communicators often fail to respect the values of those who are unconcerned, leading to counter-narratives. OK Boomer: A decade of generational differences in feelings about climate change
