Combining multisite functionalized magnetic nanomaterials with interference-free SERS nanotags for multi-target sepsis biomarker detection

Ying Wang et al.

Summary: A novel SERS biosensor with multisite capture and interference-free quantification was developed for the joint detection of IL-6 and PCT biomarkers in sepsis. The biosensor utilized highly efficient core-shell SERS probes and functionalized magnetic nanomaterials, and achieved multi-target quantitative analysis through boronic affinity and immunoreaction. The biosensor showed high sensitivity, excellent selectivity, and great potential for multi-index detection in clinical diagnosis.

Large-scale preparation and glycan characterization of sialylglycopeptide from bovine milk glycomacropeptide and its bifidogenic properties

Hirofumi Fukudome et al.

Summary: In this study, a sialylglycopeptide concentrate (SGC) was prepared from whey protein concentrate containing GMP by proteolytic digestion and ultrafiltration. The SGC contained abundant O-glycans, including N-acetylneuraminic acid, N-acetylgalactosamine, and galactose, and exhibited bifidogenic activity in promoting the growth of certain species of bifidobacteria. The preparation protocol for SGC was relatively simple and high-yield, making it suitable for large-scale production.

ATP/Hyals dually responsive core-shell hyaluronan/chitosan-based drug nanocarrier for potential application in breast cancer therapy

Huaqiang Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a dual-responsive core-shell hyaluronan/chitosan-based drug nanocarrier was developed for breast cancer therapy, showing stability in blood circulation and controlled drug delivery in intracellular environments. The nanoparticles exhibited low hemolysis, resistance to protein adsorption, and efficient internalization by breast cancer cells, making them potential drug carriers for breast tumor therapy.

Recent progress and application of boronate affinity materials in bioanalysis

Hengye Li et al.

Summary: Molecules containing cis-diols are of great biological significance but face challenges in analysis due to their low abundance and complex biosamples. Boronate affinity materials (BAMs) have pH-controlled, covalent, and reversible binding properties, making them highly suitable for specific capture, recognition, labeling, and assay of cis-diol containing molecules. Recent efforts to improve the performance of BAMs have led to various promising applications in bioanalysis.

Casein Glycomacropeptide: An Alternative Protein Substitute in Tyrosinemia Type I

Anne Daly et al.

Summary: A 2-part study evaluated the tolerance and long-term impact of a low Tyr/Phe CGMP-based protein substitute in children with HTI. The results showed that CGMP was well tolerated over 12 months, with no negative effects on metabolic control or growth. Further investigation is needed to assess the longer-term impact of CGMP on blood Phe concentrations and gut microflora.
