Short-Term Load Forecasting and Associated Weather Variables Prediction Using ResNet-LSTM Based Deep Learning

Xinfang Chen et al.

Summary: Short-term load forecasting is a key technology for the implementation of smart grids, which is primarily used in control centers to analyze consumer load patterns and predict future load values. This paper proposes a hybrid model based on Residual Neural network (ResNet) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) to improve the accuracy of load forecasting by extracting feature parameters and using them for prediction.

A Hybrid Ensemble Learning Model for Short-Term Solar Irradiance Forecasting Using Historical Observations and Sky Images

Zhongju Wang et al.

Summary: A hybrid multi-modal ensemble learning model is proposed for short-term solar irradiance forecasting, which combines historical observations and sky images. The model utilizes historical observations to extract temporal characteristics and uses ground-based sky images for cloud cover information. The Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithm is employed to capture the relationship between input features and future observations. Experimental results show that the proposed hybrid model outperforms benchmarking methods in terms of forecasting accuracy.

Construction and Application of Short-Term and Mid-Term Power System Load Forecasting Model Based on Hybrid Deep Learning

Hongsheng Xu et al.

Summary: The paper proposes the construction of short-term and mid-term power system load forecasting models based on hybrid deep learning to address the deficiencies in existing forecasting models. The exponential weight moving average method is used for missing value preprocessing and the GeneralizedESDTestAD method is used for abnormal value detection. The paper analyzes historical load data and constructs a short-term power system load forecasting model based on Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM). For mid-term load forecasting, a hybrid deep learning model based on BiLSTM and random forest is constructed after feature selection using random forest and Pearson correlation coefficient. Experimental results show that the proposed model has a MAPE of 2.36%, outperforming the benchmark models and effectively improving the accuracy of power system load forecasting.

Day-Ahead Short-Term Load Forecasting for Holidays Based on Modification of Similar Days' Load Profiles

Jihoo Son et al.

Summary: This study proposes a framework for short-term load forecasting (STLF) for holidays, taking into account factors such as calendar, trend, weather, and behind-the-meter photovoltaic (BTM PV) resources. The framework compares the differences between historical holidays and target holidays, quantifies their impact on load differences, and generates modified load profiles. The accuracy of the proposed framework was found to be better than conventional methods.

Combined State of Charge and State of Energy Estimation of Lithium-Ion Battery Using Dual Forgetting Factor-Based Adaptive Extended Kalman Filter for Electric Vehicle Applications

Prashant Shrivastava et al.

Summary: A new dual forgetting factor-based adaptive extended Kalman filter (DFFAEKF) is proposed for State of Charge (SOC) estimation, combined with a simple State of Energy (SOE) estimation approach to develop a combined SOC and SOE estimation method. Experimental results show that the proposed method can accurately estimate battery states under dynamic operating conditions and converge quickly to true values under erroneous initial conditions. It also has a complexity order equivalent to DEKF and helps reduce the computational burden on processors in BMSs for EV applications.
