MuLHiTA: A Novel Multiclass Classification Framework With Multibranch LSTM and Hierarchical Temporal Attention for Early Detection of Mental Stress

Likun Xia et al.

Summary: This study proposes an early detection framework based on EEG data for reducing the risk of mental stress-related diseases. The framework, called MuLHiTA, utilizes a multibranch LSTM and hierarchical temporal attention approach to effectively identify mental stress levels. Experimental results demonstrate that MuLHiTA outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms, showcasing its viability for early detection of mental stress.

Development of an Adaptive Artifact Subspace Reconstruction Based on Hebbian/Anti-Hebbian Learning Networks for Enhancing BCI Performance

Bo-Yu Tsai et al.

Summary: Brain-computer interface (BCI) is a technology that translates brain signals into actions by establishing direct communication between the brain and external devices. This study proposes an adaptive online technique to remove artifacts from electroencephalography (EEG) recordings, improving BCI performance.

A walk in the park? Characterizing gait-related artifacts in mobile EEG recordings

Nadine Svenja Josee Jacobsen et al.

Summary: Brain activity during natural walking outdoors can be captured using mobile EEG, but the recordings are often confounded by artifacts. This study expands on gait-related artifact features, presenting a seven-dimensional footprint that can be used to assess sensitivity to artifact reduction strategies. Evaluation of gait artifact handling showed improvements in topographies post-processing while maintaining unchanged morphologies and SNR, demonstrating the specificity of the techniques.
