Network of graphene/black phosphorus/ZnO for enhanced photocatalytic dye removal under visible light

Hui Zhao et al.

Summary: This study synthesized a three-dimensional network structure catalyst 3D-rGO/BP/ZnO with the properties of easy separation and recycle, which exhibited synergistic effect between adsorption and photocatalysis. The adsorption experiments showed that the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Freundlich model were appropriate for describing adsorption behavior. The photocatalytic experiment revealed that 3D-rGO/7-BP/ZnO had the best photocatalytic performance, degrading 93.0% of RhB in 120 min. 3D-rGO/BP/ZnO heterostructure could boost the separation of photogenerated electrons and holes, and superoxide radicals (.O-2) were the main active species. After three catalytic cycles, the photocatalysts exhibited excellent stability. This study offered a fresh perspective on the effective use of photocatalyst in environmental rehabilitation.

Yunmeng Tian et al.

Summary: We developed a one-pot hydrothermal method to synthesize Ti3C2 MXene/SnS2 nanocomposites, and found that Ti3C2 MXene0.4%/SnS2 exhibited the best photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance and photocatalytic detoxification efficiency for Cr(VI). The PEC sensor based on Ti3C2 MXene0.4%/SnS2 showed a good linear response to Cr(VI) and a low detection limit, while the nanocomposites achieved a high detoxification efficiency of 90.2% after exposure to simulated sunlight. This study provides a promising material for developing online monitoring sensors and photocatalytic reduction reactors for Cr(VI) in water.

Highly porous biobased graphene-like carbon adsorbent for dye removal: Preparation, adsorption mechanisms and optimization

Se-Hee Kim et al.

Summary: Dyes containing wastewater is produced in large quantities by various industries. Graphene and graphene-based materials are attractive adsorbents for dye removal due to their high surface areas and strong pi-pi interactions. A simple and economical method of producing graphene-like carbon using biomass pyrolysis has been investigated. Cellulose-derived graphene-like carbon (CGLC) was obtained through pyrolysis with FeCl3/ZnCl2, and its adsorption capacity for cationic and anionic dyes was studied. The CGLC showed high adsorption capacities for both Rhodamine B and Congo Red, indicating its potential as an efficient adsorbent for dye removal.

Boron doping induced charge transfer switching of a C3N4/ZnO photocatalyst from Z-scheme to type II to enhance photocatalytic hydrogen production

Donghyung Kim et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the switching of charge transfer mechanism from the Z-scheme to type II through simple boron doping of C3N4/ZnO. The introduction of low-electronegativity boron into C3N4 increased its Fermi level by 0.4 V, leading to a reversed band bending direction at the C3N4/ZnO junction. The resulting type II B-doped C3N4/ZnO showed a stable, drastic increase in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate, approximately 2.9 times higher than undoped C3N4/ZnO.
