Screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT) for cannabis: A scoping review

J. A. Gette et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the literature on screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT) for cannabis use. The results show inconsistent implementation of universal screens and suggest that cannabis-specific consequence assessment and the use of normative data may increase patient engagement. Overall, SBIRT for cannabis demonstrates high acceptability, but the impact on behavior change varies depending on modifications to intervention content and modality. There is also a lack of research on referral to treatment in adolescents and emerging adults.

Additionally, some respondents believed in false claims that cannabis could cure/prevent cancer and cause diabetes. Canadian respondents had the highest health knowledge, followed by US states that had legalized non-medical cannabis.

Performance of Polytomous IRT Models With Rating Scale Data: An Investigation Over Sample Size, Instrument Length, and Missing Data

Shenghai Dai et al.

Summary: A simulation study was conducted to investigate the performance of polytomous IRT models (GRM and GPCM) under common survey-specific characteristics. Results showed that at least 300 samples and/or a minimum of 5 items are required for accurate item parameter estimations. GRM performance improves with increasing instrument length, while GPCM's performance remains stable across different instrument lengths.
